Torrens Valley Christian Centre resembles the diversity of cultures and backgrounds of Adelaide. We have people in our church from a variety of origins, ages and cultures. No matter where you are from or what your story is, you are welcome here at TVCC.

Some aspects of the character of our church:

  • We are passionate about the word of God and seeking Him.

  • We are relationship oriented rather than rule oriented.

  • We are encouragement and faith oriented rather than performance oriented.

  • We seek to operate in freedom rather than control.

  • We are known for our values as a community rather than any particular individual. Discovering the foundations of love and living them out in our lives is critical for us at this time in history with so many other relationships breaking down and the individualistic expressions that are encouraged.

  • We believe that Jesus is the head of the Church and that as we stay close to him, he will be the one forging our character as we worship, work and relate together.

vision and mission

Our mission is reaching out with God's love to see lives renewed and flourishing in the freedom of following Jesus.

To do this, we abide by our vision to build a Church that expresses the heart of God to the North East of Adelaide and beyond.

We express our love for God and others through:

Celebration (Exodus 20:3,John 4:23-4, John 9:31, Rev 11:16)

We aim to meet together for Holy Spirit inspired worship and Bible centred teaching and preaching. We aim at seeing every member grow in their relationship with Jesus and become more like him.

Conversion (John 3:7, Acts 2:38, Romans 3:22)

To help people meet Jesus and become his faithful disciples. We aim to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in a relevant way with the people of our community and to help them to meet Him and become his faithful disciples.

Community (Acts 2:43-47) To love and care for others.

We aim to build a Church that is loving and caring with particular concern for those in need. We desire to encourage one another in the development and use of the Holy Spirit's gifts and to be interdependent and committed to one another.

Church Planting (Romans 15:20)

To train leaders for both local and overseas churches. We aim to identify and train leaders and potential leaders so that we might impact South Australia with the Gospel. We aim to identify and encourage, equip and support those who are called to church planting and overseas mission.

our HIstory

We were commissioned as an independent Church plant, from North Eastern Vineyard Church, on Sunday 21st of July 1996. Twenty five people began meeting in a private home in Highbury.

After a short time we moved into the Torrens Valley T.A.F.E. where we met on Sunday evenings for approximately twelve months. By Easter we had about 50 people meeting for worship on Sunday evenings. We decided to join the Crosslink Christian Network, Australia, a network of local churches committed to the basic confessions of Christianity (including the final authority of Scripture, the Apostles and Nicene Creeds).

Following Easter 1997, a small group of ten people began meeting for prayer and worship on Sunday mornings in a room of ‘Extreme House’, a building attached to the Modbury Hospital which we rented and also used for other activities. Out of this time of ‘weeping and worship’ a morning service was developed. This meant we needed to move premises.

We then began worshipping in the St Agnes Community Hall in August 1997 and stayed there until the end of November when we had outgrown the facility and so we moved to the Modbury High School Auditorium.

In February 2000, we moved to a larger facility at the Holden Hill North Primary School.

In October 2001, following the sale of the Holden Hill North facility, we moved to a larger facility at the Ridgehaven School.

In January 2002, we moved to Modbury West Primary School.

In December 2003, we moved to Modbury Hospital Education Centre Auditorium. At this location we established Offices and had continuous access to facilities within the centre.

In June 2005, we purchased the Church property at 1323 North East Road Tea Tree Gully from the Tea Tree Gully Baptist Church and relocated in October 2005.

Our vision, when we first started meeting with just 25 people in a home, was to love and worship Jesus and share Him with others. That vision still continues. We thank the Lord for all the ways He’s led us as a church family journeying through life together and look forward in expectation to all that He has for us in the future.
